Description: Geological map of Greenland thies 14 map series of the ice-free land of Greenland
Vol.1 Map Series
Description: Explanatory notes to the Geological map of Greenland 1:500 000 Humboldt Gletscher Sheet 6 - The Humboldt Gletscher map sheet predominantly displays Precambrian Palaeozoic and Quaternary units and expanses of ice. Minor clastic rocks and wood erratics are of Neogene age. Three bedrock provinces are preserved: the Palaeoproterozoic shield or Inglefield mobile belt the Mesoproterozoic Thule Basin and the Lower Palaeozoic Franklinian Basin. These explanatory notes are designed as an expanded map legend and introduced by sections on physical environment and geoscientific research with 150 papers cited. The notes are aimed at the practical user needing a key to more information rather than the specialist seeking detailed analysis. Five mineral occurrence types are shown on the map: in shield lithologies sulphide-graphite gossanous rust zones massive magnetite and copper-gold mineralisation and in Franklinian Basin strata commercially drilled zinc-lead-silver and zinc-lead-barium mineralisations.

Poster, Near-shore shallow-seismic geological mapping of the Dan
Description: The knowledge of the near-surface geology in the Danish part of the North Sea was until recently very general and sporadic. In 1998 the GEUS began a three-year survey programme in order to map the geology off the the Danish West Coast Leth & Anthony 1999. Then project is a co-operation between GEUS and the Danish Coastal Authorities.

Description: Fact sheet CO2 storage. Emission to the atmosphere of greenhouse gases mainly resulting from combustion of fossil fuels is considered a major environmental problem. If not resolved it could impose severe limitations on the potential for growth in developing countries and on maintaining of high standards of living in industrialised countries. UN Climate Conventions in Rio 1992 Kyoto 1997 and Buenos Aires 1998 commit the industrialised countries to reduce rather dramatically emissions of greenhouse gases.

Instrumentation
Description: The Deparment of Geological Mapping offers a variety of analytical services and facilities including Computer Controlled Scanning Electron Microscopy CCSEM X-Ray Fluorescence Analysis XRF and Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry ICP-MS for both liquid and solid sampling and thin section and sample preparation.
